Mercedes-Benz All Keys Lost

All keys lost on a Mercedes is the job where being told the truth up front matters most, because the answer genuinely differs by model year — and some cars cannot be keyed by anyone except the dealer.

The honest version

Mercedes models using the earlier EIS and EZS ignition modules are workable. We read the module, originate a key, and program it at the vehicle. Cars using the later FBS4 system, broadly from around 2015, are a different matter — on many of those the security architecture does not allow independent key origination, and any locksmith telling you otherwise is either mistaken or planning to charge you for finding out.

So the first thing we do is establish which one you have. Model, year, and the last seven of the VIN if you can find it. That takes a phone call, costs nothing, and saves you a wasted callout fee.

Where it can be done

• Key originated from the vehicle's own data, not copied
• Work carried out at your location, so the car is not towed
• Lost or stolen keys erased from the vehicle where the system allows
• A spare cut in the same visit, while the difficult part is already done

Ownership verification

Title or registration plus photo identification, always. Producing a working key for a car with no key present is exactly the capability a thief would want, and the check is what makes the service safe to offer.

Is my Mercedes one you can do?

Model and year usually settle it. Cars using EIS or EZS modules are generally workable; later FBS4 vehicles frequently are not. Call with the details and we will tell you before dispatch.

What if my car is FBS4?

We will tell you it needs the dealer rather than attempting it. You will not be charged for a callout to discover that.

Do I need the car towed?

Not for the generations we service — the work happens at the vehicle. If yours turns out to be dealer-only, towing is unavoidable, which is another reason to establish it on the phone first.
